To use an AdventureSIMs eSIM, your device must be unlocked and eSIM-compatible. Most phones manufactured since 2018 support eSIM technology, but it’s always best to check your specific model.
Quick Check Methods #
Here are three easy ways to check if your device supports eSIM.
- Check in Settings (Most Reliable):
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see an option to “Add eSIM” or “Add Cellular Plan”, your device is compatible.
- Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs. If you see a “+” icon or an option to “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM instead?”, your device is compatible.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see an option to “Add eSIM” or “Add Cellular Plan”, your device is compatible.
- Use the Phone Dialer:
- Open your phone’s dialer and type in
*#06#. If an EID (eSIM Identification Number) is displayed in the results, your device supports eSIM.

Here is a general guide to compatible devices.
Apple iOS Devices #
Most Apple devices released after 2018 are eSIM compatible. This includes:
- iPhones: iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and all newer models (iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 series, and iPhone SE 2nd & 3rd generation).
- iPads (Cellular models only): iPad Pro (3rd gen and later), iPad Air (3rd gen and later), iPad (7th gen and later), and iPad Mini (5th gen and later).
Note: Your device must be running iOS 12.1 or newer. For the most up-to-date information, you can always check Apple’s official eSIM support page.
Android Devices #
Compatibility in the Android ecosystem can vary by model and region. Here are some of the most common compatible device families:
- Samsung Galaxy: Most flagship models from the S20 series onwards (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24), all Fold and Flip models, and select Note and A-series devices.
- Google Pixel: Pixel 3, 3a, and all newer models (Pixel 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Fold series).
- Huawei: P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro, and newer models (excluding P40 Pro+ and P50 Pro).
- Oppo: Find X3 Pro, Find X5/Pro, Reno 5A, and newer flagship models.
- Xiaomi: Xiaomi 12T Pro, Xiaomi 13 series, and newer flagship models.
Important Compatibility Notes #
- Regional Restrictions: Some devices, particularly those purchased in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, may not have eSIM functionality enabled, even if the model is listed above.
- Carrier Locks: Your device must be unlocked from your home carrier to use a travel eSIM. If you are unsure, please contact your carrier to confirm your device’s status.
- Software Updates: Always ensure your device is running the latest operating system, as updates often improve eSIM functionality and stability.
