# Device Compatibility

To use an AdventureSIMs eSIM, your device must be **unlocked** and **eSIM-compatible**. Most phones manufactured since 2018 support eSIM technology, but it's always best to check your specific model.

### Quick Check Methods

Here are three easy ways to check if your device supports eSIM.

1. **Check in Settings (Most Reliable):**
   - **iPhone:** Go to **Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data)**. If you see an option to **"Add eSIM"** or **"Add Cellular Plan"**, your device is compatible.
   - **Android:** Go to **Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs**. If you see a **"+"** icon or an option to **"Add eSIM"** or **"Download a SIM instead?"**, your device is compatible.
2. **Use the Phone Dialer:**
   - Open your phone's dialer and type in `*#06#`. If an **EID** (eSIM Identification Number) is displayed in the results, your device supports eSIM.
3. **Use the AdventureSIMs App:**
   - **Have our app?** For a simple yes/no answer, go to the **My Account** tab, select **Device Tools**, and use our built-in compatibility checker.

### Compatible Device List

Here is a general guide to compatible devices.

#### Apple iOS Devices

Most Apple devices released after 2018 are eSIM compatible. This includes:

- **iPhones:** iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and all newer models (iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 series, and iPhone SE 2nd & 3rd generation).
- **iPads (Cellular models only):** iPad Pro (3rd gen and later), iPad Air (3rd gen and later), iPad (7th gen and later), and iPad Mini (5th gen and later).

> **Note:** Your device must be running iOS 12.1 or newer. For the most up-to-date information, you can always check [**Apple's official eSIM support page**](https://support.apple.com/en-au/118669).

#### Android Devices

Compatibility in the Android ecosystem can vary by model and region. Here are some of the most common compatible device families:

- **Samsung Galaxy:** Most flagship models from the S20 series onwards (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24), all Fold and Flip models, and select Note and A-series devices.
- **Google Pixel:** Pixel 3, 3a, and all newer models (Pixel 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Fold series).
- **Huawei:** P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro, and newer models (excluding P40 Pro+ and P50 Pro).
- **Oppo:** Find X3 Pro, Find X5/Pro, Reno 5A, and newer flagship models.
- **Xiaomi:** Xiaomi 12T Pro, Xiaomi 13 series, and newer flagship models.

### Important Compatibility Notes

- **Regional Restrictions:** Some devices, particularly those purchased in **mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao**, may not have eSIM functionality enabled, even if the model is listed above.
- **Carrier Locks:** Your device must be **unlocked** from your home carrier to use a travel eSIM. If you are unsure, please contact your carrier to confirm your device's status.
- **Software Updates:** Always ensure your device is running the latest operating system, as updates often improve eSIM functionality and stability.
